I do think Ivan remembers, he probably doesn’t want to tell Ruby anything about it because he doesn’t want to get emotional about his past and all the memories he has had. This also ties in with the next question, Ivan wouldn’t want to remember all the sad things that happened to him and his family when he was younger because it’s just not a very nice thing to put in your mind.
